El Balneario de las Arenas acogió ayer el broche final a Expofórum Valencia 2019, una iniciativa del Ateneo Mercantil y Cámara de Comercio para conmemorar los 110 años de la Exposición Regional. Ambas instituciones fueron quienes impulsaron en 1909 un proyecto de ciudad de éxito que se abría a la modernidad y a los retos del siglo XX.
La necesidad de recuperar ese espíritu pionero e innovador del cap y casal llevó a sacar adelante esta iniciativa a la que durante este año se han sumado todas las instituciones, autoridades y asociaciones en su conjunto para aportar su granito de arena en la celebración de este aniversario.
En el acto al que asistieron el presidente de la Generalitat, Ximo Puig, el alcalde de la ciudad, Joan Ribó, el vicealcalde, Sergi Campillo, entre otros, se realizó una mención especial para las instituciones que han hecho posible de nuevo la apertura, el dinamismo y el impulso de la ciudad en diferentes ámbitos sociales, culturales y económicos. Así concedieron reconocimientos a la Autoridad Portuaria, la Asociación de Comerciantes del Mercado del Cabanyal, Asociación de Comerciantes del Marítimo (ACIPMAR), Gremio de Artistas Falleros, Museo de Bellas Artes San Pío V, MuVim, a la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, al L’Oceanografic, así como al Palau de la Música y a la Asociación del Comerciantes del Centro Histórico, entre otras instituciones.
Carmen de Rosa, presidenta del Ateneo, destacó que su voluntad era la de «proyectar una imagen moderna de nuestra ciudad y que la Comunitat Valenciana es tierra de consenso y debate; y lo hemos conseguido, hace 110 años dimos un paso al frente y supimos reinventarnos, y hace un año ante un sentimiento de déficit reputacional, la misma institución miró al pasado para no perder el futuro».
